Brand Logos and its History.

In Marketing, it is very important to choose the Brand elements such as Names, URLs, Logo, Symbol, Characteristics, Packaging. These are things which add value to your Brand Equity.
So I found that these following Brands have some of the most exciting and interesting Brand Logo.
Here are some of them:

Starbucks

Starbucks Corporation is a coffeehouse chain based in the United States. Named after a character in the novel Moby Dick, it is the largest coffeehouse company in the world, with 7521 self-operated and 5647 licensed stores in 39 countries. The current company logo, modeled after a 15th century Norse woodcut, is a mixoparthenos, or "twin-tailed mermaid, or siren as she's known in Greek mythology. The company and the logo have an interesting history. As you can see on the above pictures!!!

ADDIDAS

The three stripes of Adidas can be seen everywhere. They are on the shoes, they are on the jerseys of your favorite football team, they are on T-shirts, and on many more things. Adolf-Adi-Dassler founded Adidas in 1949 in Herzogenaurach, Germany along with his brother Rudolf (Who later founded rival sportswear maker Puma). The three stripes logo was created by Adi Dassler himself. Since then the stripes have become a symbol of comfort, durability and toughness.

The three stripes which are shaped like mountain signify the challenges faced by the athletes. Chances are that it was inspired by the side view of a shoe with a lace. The triangular shape of the logo looks like a shoe while the white space between stripes may signify shoelace.

The stripes have become so much of a part of Adidas’ identity that they have adapted different variations of it for their various business units. In 1971 Adidas came out with a Trefoil Logo which became its corporate identity for the next few years.

Today the company has three different versions of the logo for its three different businesses. The Modern Performance logo, The Classic Trefoil logo and the Y-3 logo.

WAL-MART

Sam Walton names his new stores WALMART. The Walmart name was presented in just about any font/style available to the printer.

                                                                                          1962-1964

Also known as the "Frontier Font Logo," this was the first official and consistently used logo.

1964 - 1981

The Discount City mark was used in print advertising, on the uniforms/smocks, in-store signing, and other things. However, it was never used as building signage or in an annual report.

1968-1981
The logo was updated again in 1981.
                                                                                         1981 - 1992

The star was adopted as an update to the existing logo in early 1992.
                                                                                           1992-2008

Creative Briefing Format

Exceptionally good creative is a result of extremely well-thought out strategy. And the sun rises in the east. Nothing new, I admit, but good creative development process begins with a well-written creative brief. How to write a good creative brief is the subject of this edition.

Advertising professionals, excuse me please. You guys probably know how to write good briefs. But for those who wish to access a good template here is the format from one of world's most respected ad agencies - BBDO. Here goes it.

Assignment: The job on hand

- Campaign / Single ad
- TV commercial – Length
- Print ad – Size, Colour
- Newspaper or magazine
- Outdoor, Promotion, Radio, Integrated Campaign
- What do we have to do, what's the budget, and when do we have to do it by

Include relevant data

Target: For whom our brand will be a viable alternative

- Not just demographics – psychographics
- What are they like as human beings?
- What are their hopes, fears, and ambitions?
- What do they expect from the category?
- How do they use it?
- What needs do they have that aren't being met?

Be as informative and as insightful as possible

Competitive Frame: Who is our competition?

-What are they saying?
- What is the source of business?
- What will the consumer do or buy if they don't buy us?

Not just a list of brands – could include habits and attitudes

Consumer Belief: The deeply held perceptions and feelings

- What is the single most important thing our prospects believe or feel about our brand or the category?

What is it that the advertising must change or reinforce?

Marketing Objective: The things that we are aiming for

Be as specific and clear-cut as possible.

Advertising Objective: What we want to make happen due to advertising

- Raise awareness
- Put on list
- Encourage trial
- Repeat purchase
- Change perceptions
- Reconsider our brand
- Use it more often
- Use in a new way
- Remain satisfied

Be specific, again.

Key Selling Message: The one thing we want to tell them

- In the light of the Consumer Belief in the defined Competitive Frame, what is the single-minded promise we will make to the defined Target that will persuade them to act in the way that will achieve the Advertising Objective?
- What do we want them to think, feel or believe as a result of the Advertising?

What do we have to have an idea about?

Support: Relevant reasons why we can make the promise

- Competitive physical or perceptual advantages
- Not just a list of features, or of all the brand's good points

The reason to believe our claims.

Brand Personality: Aspect of personality that the ad must reflect

- A brief, vivid description
- Not just a list of adjectives

Preferably, describable by one word or phrase.

Budget / Timing: The budget for the whole exercise

What are the time frames?

Mandatory Inclusions: The musts or must nots be included in the ad

- Legal restrictions, logo usage, campaign themes
- The fewer the better

None, if possible!

Criteria for Evaluation: Measurable action points

The parameters by which the creative would be evaluated.

Good news!!

Hey hi all,

I've got some good news.. I've been in the top 10 of my class and I was also selected for this Wealth management program in Delhi conducted by NUS-National University of Singapore. But I turned it down becoz I'm not in Finance and definitely not planning to take up the same..
So I would have to do Internship in Marketing or HR... Lets hope I do that well.

Dedicating this month of love to my Dad!!!

Ever since I remember

Ever since I can remember
You have been the one
who picked me up when I would fall
lift me up when I was down
You are the one who
wiped away the tears
And made a smile magically appear.
You are the one who
loved me no matter what I did
And you are the one who
helped me to be what I am today
How can I ever tell you
how very much I love you?

Did I ever say thanks

Did I ever say thanks
for all the toys you mended,
games we played,
outings to the park,
and the way you
always tried to cheer
me when I was down?

Did I ever say thanks for
the sacrifices you made
so I could be involved
in so many enriching
activities?

Did I ever say thanks for
working so hard
to provide for our family?

Did I ever say thanks
for having such faith in me
and always being there
when I needed you?

Most of all,
Did I ever say thanks for caring?

DAD, I LOVE YOU.

Life is good!!!! :-)

A good life is what everybody wants. But what does it mean to have a good life? Everybody has different ideas of a good life. Some people think more about themselves, others like to help people. Both are examples of good life, but as long as you are happy with yourself, you are having a good life. In my blog, I'll tell you my ideas of a good life. You might not totally agree with me, but I'll guarantee you will learn something from it.

First and foremost, I personally think  the most important quality of a good life is happiness. Nobody tell you to get happy, it is something that you have to require by yourself. When you are happy, you feel like you have the power to do anything, say anything, and go anywhere you want. When you are happy, you see everything positive, then you will be nice to your co-workers or classroom. If you have the power to be happy, you also have the power to make others happy.

1.Start the day with a Smile.

I do that everyday. I see anybody for the first time that day, I smile. It gives a positive note and vibe. After all, smile doesn't cost you anything.

What is love in just one image???

Hey guys! Got this image in my mail from a friend... Wanted to share it with you

VENNILA KABADI KUZHU... Worth Seeing!!!!

First thing I like about the movie is that is it definitely its name!! No short cuts.. Just plain Vennila kabadi kuzhu.

The movie is directed by a new guy called Sushidharan. Well for the first time, he has definitely done a pretty good job. The character select is apt.. The lead role played by vishnu speaks for itself. He doesn't show any heroism: normal, plain, simple guy living in a village.

The movie is about how a gang of young men from a village near Madurai goes to state finals in a Kabadi match and wins it, Of course. This gang consist of people from different castes and one thing that bind them is KABADI. They are well-known for losing all the matches that they have played. Fed up with the insults by the family and neighbour, they decide to win it in a state finals. This were a coach (kishore) comes in. He is ditched by a team for some reason so here he is to help this Kuzhu to win  it. There is defintely a romantic side to the movie. This were the hero marimuthu falls in love with this gal whose name is never revealed in the movie. She comes to the village to attend thiruvizha(its kinda like a festival). She falls in love with him at first sight. They talk to each other but the hero forgets to ask her till the end then she leaves after a week promises to met him in the next Thiruvizha. They do their talking more in their eyes which is kinda sweet. The end has a little twist to it which makes us sit back and have a few tears in the eyes.

Certain things that struck me was the comedy scenes which are really cool. The scene where one of this team member is entering into the contest for eating 50 parotas.. That was hilarious and the scene where they feel like crying when they won their first match ever. Another thing is the dialogues which are so real, has a genuine approach to each character. I do not want to tell you more about it becoz it would spoil the fun of going and watching the movie. But I would say it is definitely worth spending money and watching it. Hats off to them. Personally, It has an impact on me. I think it would have the same on you too!!! Good movies like this should be encouraged more and thanks to susidharan for it...

OOPS!! forgot to tell you about the music.. The songs are too good. The song " Lesa Parakudhu" sung by Karthik and Chinmayi is awesome. One could go on listening to it. The song" Pada Pada" sung by Karthik again is good too. I think Karthik should sing more songs in other movies too.LOL.Did I mention the music is scored by Selvaganesh( a new comer too!!:-))

Morning walks to school!!!

Today I woke up early( A Rare Phenomenon) due to come work in college. Since I got up early my youngest sister who goes to school asked me to drop her there. I agreed and took her on my bike to school. On the way, I saw a school few girls walking leisurely not worrying about the time or anything. What I saw strick me!!! This is how I used to be..

Nothing to worry about. Bharani(my friend) and me, we used to roam around the whole neighbourhood laughing and talking about everything. When in school, I used to take my cycle, peddle myself to bharani's house asap and then both of us would walk to school even though we had a cycle. We rarely cared about the time except during exams times. Those were the days!!!

Life was just too good. Of course, we learnt about everything. Saw many thing around us changing each day. We got closer and deeper to each other. When I think about it now, it makes me feel, that we had heaven on earth those days. May be we never realized it that time but now it feels so. I remeber telling her about all my crushes, problems: teenage and parents.
When we became friends, we knew we had nothing in common, but when we became more friendlier and closer only during these morning walks. We would even sneek around the places where we were not suppose to be(LOL).  She learnt a lot from me and I did so.

Just seeing those girls made me miss my morning walks... Beautiful days of my life!!

Self Motivation

Below are few valuable, bare & true secrets for self-motivation. I'm sure you can discover new life out of these.

1.Don't compare yourself with any one in this world.
If you compare, you are insulting yourself.

2. No one will manufacture a lock without a key.
Similarly God won't give problems without solutions.

3. Life laughs at you when you are unhappy...
Life smiles at you when you are happy... Life salutes you when you make others happy...

4. Every successful person has a painful story.
Every painful story has a successful ending. Accept the pain and get ready for success.

5. Easy is to judge the mistakes of others.
Difficult is to recognize our own mistakes. It is easier to protect your feet with slippers than to cover the earth with carpet.

6. No one can go back and change a bad beginning;
But anyone can start now and create a successful ending

7. If a problem can be solved, no need to worry about it.
If a problem cannot be solved what is the use of worrying?

8. If you miss an opportunity don't fill the eyes with tears.
It will hide another better opportunity in front of you.

9. "Changing the Face" can change nothing.
But "Facing the Change" can change everything. Don't complain about others; Change yourself if you want peace.

10. Mistakes are painful when they happen.
But year's later collection of mistakes is called experience, which leads to success.

11. Be bold when you loose and be calm when you win.
Heated gold becomes ornament. Beaten copper becomes wires. Depleted stone becomes statue. So the more pain you get in life you become more valuable.

*So very true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***

Here I am sitting in my office @ night...
Thinking hard about life
How it changed from a maverick college life to strict professional
life......

How tiny pocket money changed to huge monthly paychecks
but then why it gives lesss happiness....

How a few local denim jeans changed to new branded wardrobe
but then why there are less people to use them

How a single plate of samosa changed to a full Pizza or burger
But then why there is less hunger.....

Here i am sitting in my office @ night...
Thinking hard about life
How it changed.....

How a bike always in reserve changed to bike always on
but then why there are less places to go on......

How a small coffee shop changed to cafe coffee day
but then why its feels like shop is far away.....

How a limited prepaid card changed to postpaid package
but then why there are less calls & more messages......

Here i am sitting in my office @ night...
Thinking hard about life
How it changed.....

How a general class journey changed to Flight journey
But then why there are less vacations for enjoyment....

How a old assembled desktop changed to new branded laptop
but then why there is less time to put it on..........

How a small bunch of friends changed to office mate
But then why we always feel lonely n miss those college frnz.....

Here i am sitting in my office @ night...
Thinking hard about life
How it changed..... How it changed........

POOJA....

Isn't she the prettiest thing ever that walked on earth? Thats POOJA... My cousin
Did you know that when she was born, she stopped crying listening to A.R. Rehaman's Airtel music??

She is one of the most brilliant and amazing kid on earth( May be i am going too far about that but for me, she is). She is just doing LKG in DAV. She is chiti's little doll. We are all so found of her. Every time we are out shopping or just going out we find something interesting and we buy it for her. Not only my family even my cousin brothers who are just little themselves do it for her. It is just amazing how these kids steal our heart at such young age. She knows more than what she needs to know for her age.. She loves the fashion. up-to date on everything from head band to shoes.

She is so stylish. I have to learn a lot from her for that reason. Pooja is someone who we all enjoy having as a company except for her mom with whom she has to be all the time. My chiti gets annoyed or bored sometimes. It happens to all mom. My mom tells me that I was terror when I was that age. My dad always came for the rescue when amma started hitting me sometime for being so.( he he he) So why the post is about poo. She was the first baby I remember holding properly. I saw her the first day when she was born, and i decided that I should become a mother one day. She made me feel like a mother sometime when she used to cry and come to me for help. She was so cuddling. The touch and smell was so different.
Poo is like this angel who stepped on earth saying," I'm here to make you all happy!!" And I believe she does.  Being the first born, I was also treated and pampered like her.  I was told so by my ma. I remember my Thatha and patti who were there to drop me at school, pick me up, feed me, console me when I cried, who are no more alive... I miss them of course. It was so different when they were alive. But I know that they are up there or besides me right now, looking after me..

Naan Kadavul to release in 220 theatres!!!!

The long wait is over at last! The hard work of Bala and producer K.S Sreenivasan of Naan Kadavul has paid of handsomely. It is good news that the distribution rights of Naan Kadavul has been sold for a sizeable price worldwide, thanks to the efforts of the duo, Bala and Sreenivasan in providing the right launch pad for the film. The music of Illayaraja is already popular following the gala audio launch. What induced more interest in the film for the distributors is the thrilling trailer that is making rounds on all television channels.

The marketing strategy used by Bala and team is instrumental in selling all the distribution rights for the film. Now the film is all set to hit 220 theatres worldwide on 6th February.

Naan Kadavul was first announced in 2005 and since then has undergone numerous delays, changes in cast and crew and more than two different producers until K.S.Sreenivasan took up the project for good. The film is a result of more than three years of persistence over prolonged uncertainty.

Naan Kadavul is expected to be a landmark film for all those involved in it. Arya’s maniacal makeover with long locks and Pooja’s drubbed and worn down look as a beggar are widely being touted as national award calibre performances. With so many things going for it, the industry is pinning its hopes on Naan Kadavul to provide the first big hit of 2009 after Pongal turned out to be an average experience

Best friends forever...

I have a friend, bharani who I miss so much... she is someone I look upon as a guide and everything. We hardly talk to each other anymore but I know she loves me and so does she knows that i do too. I just wanted to tell it to the world that nothing can stop her being in my thoughts.... We are best friends forever  even though we are miles apart...

Bharani.. I dedicate this poem to you and our friendship...

Memories were all I had

and just the thought of them made me sad.

I cried every night wondering how to make it right.

I wish you could erase that day and that incident.

Would you please forgive me? I don't know where to start.

It hurts me so bad to have this hole in my heart!

I don't want our friendship to totally end.

I need you! You are my best friend!

So can we make a promise to stay together 'till the end?

A vow to each other to ALWAYS be BEST FRIENDS?

My First Crush

Why I wanted to write about this today??
I saw him today after 5 years...
His name is Prabhu. School senior. basketball champion.Sports caption.Individual champ and best of all, my sweetheart.
Yes, Prabhu was my first real crush. He made me get butterflies in my stomach. He he he. He really did. It was a huge crush. I always watch him play Basketball. I joined the coaching class just becoz i could see him everyday even in holidays. I had this major crush on him since 7th std. I even thought i would marry him. I was always teased as " PAD" by my friends.. What does that mean? HE he he "Prabhu's Adorable Darling". Yup that was me!!
Then he left school when i was in my 9th std.  I used to think about him once in while. Then of course, I had a series of crushes. Every month, week or day, may be!!. You know what I mean. Then I used to see him sometimes. Never dared to talk to him.

But today I saw him, changed completely opposite.

He was my hero in school but now he had changed drastically. He never studied well. Got low grades. Arrears in college still yet to be completed. Trying to do some network course. Doesn't  want to waste his talents on a BPO job. ( Exact words he said). No offense but a BPO job in not that easy guys.. It is a lifesaver for millions in our country.
People change from school to college, college to work, Work to marriage... etc. these things always happen but one can never forget their first crush. ( just like me!)
