A Tribute to my ma....

My mom... 

 

What will I do without her...? She is the best in the world. My mom is 50% angel and 50% Devil(LOL)... We have our moments.. We always have difference of option.. Yup thats how we bond.. Bringing  me up was the greatest challenge, my mom would have ever faced.. I am the Problem Child of the House. Yet ma stood still of course with a great deal of help from dad. My life nowadays revolve only around them.. I live for both of em and my sisters of course..

Ma I've never told you how much i love you. We really do not appreciate people when they are near us, but i realised how important a mother is in ma life when we had a short separation. I realised what she had done for me and my family. My mom always think we do not appreciate her work around the house but without her we are nothing.. all of us. We will definitely struggle a lot without you.. You make us what we are today!!! 

So I just wrote a small poem to you... This doesn't constitute anything compared to what you are and what you do... Ma I love you a lot.. all of us do even though we fight a lot ma..

Boss, Whats with the jingle?

Ever wondered why we keep humming some tune or the other?? 

If this starts in the morning, we will be doing it the whole day!!!

Yes, this is what we as a marketer should notice. My Advertising project is due any day now.  We were asked to take up a Brand and to make an advertising plan for the same, describing its next strategy.We chose Titan. Yup the one which sells watches globally... Did you know that Titan is the World's 6th largest sellers of watches with their own brand name..?? Cool huh?? I knew only after I started working on it. I started collecting all the old ads becoz we had to analyse the history of advertising. This brand has a huge impact on everyone who has it... Guess why?? 

Its the jingle of course.. remember the  Ta nanana....

Now I'm sure you must have seen this ad right!! There are  lot more ads like that from Titan. They were a pioneer in bring about watches for everyone.. Be it young, old, male, female, rich, poor, classic, funky, heritage, modern... you name it they have everything... I started this project in the beginning of the month of December, last year.. I still see my self humming this jingle one in a while... These things stay in our mind forever.

You might also remember That Nirma Ad.. Washing powder nirma.. With that girl spinning.. now that's another classic example... How about Britannia Britannia Britannia Marie gold!!! LOL

If you try to recollect all these things, you will find that you are going back to your childhood days!!

Brings back a lot more than memories.. We may or may not live with our siblings or parents now but these things sure brings back the lovely memories in our lives...

A Scary Thought

All the people around me are talking about A.R Rehman making it to the Gloden globes and the Oscars, but my mind went on with something more important, according to me. 

Is Indian IT and ITES Sector going to stay put for eternity?

You "might" ask me?? What made you think about this when the world says India is the future.

Well this topic came to mind when I was working on my presentation which is due tomorrow. I have been think and going through a lot of articles on this topic," Is Indian offshoring an advantage for Eternity?" I have to speak against the topic by the way.

If you see that, I have already worked in a BPO where my job was to take call and talk to customer's regarding their billing queries. It was basically for a well known Canadian telecommunication company. The first shock that hit me at the job was that people there they  have almost the every hi-tech gagdets and people here dont even know how a computer looks like. May be now people know how it looks.... or shall I say how to open the computer... 

As you see times are changing. 

People there are now wanting things to be error free. Something called as ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE can definitely replace man and the labour. Did you guys also know that India does only the back office jobs. It is called the WORLD's Back office. The customer thinks and India execute.  And definitely you know that India is not into thinking.!!! This was given in the Forbes report.

We can also argue with the point that India has cost advantage over these outsourcing firms. According to the same report, it say that India's cost advantage was 1:6 but now it is 1:3. What does tht imply..? It says that we are having an increase in the value of rupees against the value of dollars which is decreasing drastically.. 

These reports scare me a lot... I mean if you see that the amount employment generated by such outsourcing activites are closely to 4 million (IT and ITES) people. What will all these people do if these alternatives are implemented.  If this cost advantage of 1:3 changes to 1:1.5, then guys!!! 

That is the end to "Indian Cost Advantage". 

I know these things may sound boring but believe me that government has to take steps to prevent from something like this happening. It really not that far way... This is going to happen by the end of 2015.

My Friend's Love

10th Grade:-
  As I sat there in English class,
  I stared at the girl next to me.
  She was my so called 'best friend'.

  the notes she had missed the day before.

11th grade:-
  The phone rang. On the other end,
  it was her. She was in tears,
  mumbling on and on about how
  her love had broke her heart.
  She asked me to come over
  because she didn't want to be alone, So I did.
  As I sat next to her on the sofa, I stared at her
  soft eyes, wishing she was mine.
  After 2 hours, one Drew Barrymore movie,
  and three bags of chips,
  she decided to go home.
  She looked at me, said 'thanks'
  and gave me a kiss
  on the cheek..I want to tell her,
  I want her to know that
  I don't want to be just friends,
  I love her but I'm just too shy,
  and I don't know why.

Senior year:-
  One fine day she walked to my locker.
  "My date is sick" she said,
  "hes not gonna go" well,
  I didn't have a date, and in 7th grade,
  we made a promise that
  if neither of us had dates,
  we would go together just as 'best friends'.
  So we did.
  That night, after everything was over,
  I was standing at her front door step.
  I stared at her as She smiled at me
  and stared at me with her crystal eyes.
  Then she said- "I had the best time, thanks!"
  and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
  I want to tell her,
  I want her to know
  that I don't want to be just friends,
  I love her but I'm just too shy,

Graduation:-
  A day passed, then a week, then a month.
  Before I could blink, it was graduation day.
  I watched as her perfect body
  floated like an angel
  up on stage to get her diploma.

  Before everyone went home,
  she came to me in her smock and hat,
  and cried as I hugged her.
  Then she lifted her head from my shoulder

Marriage:-
  Now I sit in the pews of the church.

  She said 'thanks' and kissed me on the cheek.

Death:-
  Years passed, I looked down at the coffin
  of a girl who used to be my 'best friend'.
  At the service, they read a diary entry
  she had wrote in her high school years.
  This is what it read:
  'I stare at him wishing he was mine,
  but he doesn't notice me like that,
  and I know it.
  I want to tell him,
  I want him to know that
  I don't want to be just friends,
  I love him but I'm just too shy,

Discovering Discovery

Yet again about another Brand

Hey seen this logo...Of course you have!!!! What am I saying???

Now lets get back to my Marketing subject.

Here is what this logo symbolises:

Discovery Channel Logo was designed with the purpose of showing that they would show the world to the world.......

This absolutely fantastic idea was awesome... Look at the design!! The designer must have purposefully designed the Logo in such a manner that the colour used are amazing. Take a look at the colours. He could have used another colour instead of blue to the letter channel. He has definitely thought this colour would turn out to be wonderful. The Font used for the letter Discovery is so different that it shows the world. The placement of the globe just shows his creativity. I have never noticed this after all the years of watching them. But this subject has made me realised that even small things done around us has a new meaning to it. It has also taught me how advertising and Logo design can bring a brand in and out of business. These things are just amazing and how people just come with these creative ideas.

KUDOS To all those Advertisers and Marketers!!! After all, I am going to be a part of you guys one day!!!!!(LOL)

The McDonald's Golden Arches logo was introduced in 1962. It was created by Jim Schindler to resemble new arch shaped signs on the sides of the restaurants. Schindler's work was a development of the stylized 'v' logo sketched by Fred Turner, which was conceived as a more stylish corporate symbol than the Speedee chef character that had previously been used. The McDonald's name was added to the logo in 1968.

FedEX

Today I had my Brand Management class in which we had class on how figures and logo make a great impact on the product and the brand itself. I donno if anyone of you have noticed this logo carefully before. He showed us this logo and asked us  what this logo depicted. All of us in my class were obviously fast asleep because it was almost 6 in the evening and we had classes from the morning. We really couldn't get what was in this logo. Finally sir gave up and said that it had an Hidden Arrow between E and X.. some people might think," OH Now I see that".. Well we had the same reaction. We got a good sound of blasting from him. of course we deserve it. After all, this is a professional course. So as I was saying, now we get to the logo:

In 1994, Lindon Leader of Landor Associates created the new FedEx logo which has become a highly recognized corporate symbol of FedEx Corporation. This logo was to symbolise the Brand FedEx as Speed and Precision.

Thank you to the ones who read my blog and commented. Its a small gesture but means a lot to me. 

Well I wanted a little bit of traffic to my so-called blog, so i sent a mail to few(just 10 of em) to read my blog and criticise me. Be it good or bad. Well this mail was also sent to my brother Sunil. He  called me this morning and asked whether there was something wrong with me. And he also mentioned a certain things about my past. Well thanks anna for taking care in me. And I also had a very close friend of mine vinoth call in and asked me the same question. Thanks to him too. 

These are some people who really care about me.Without you guys I wouldn't have never had a second life as of now.

To all those pple who really care about me. My past life has got nothing to do with what I am doing in present and will be doing in the future. What I feel about my past has got nothing to do with what I am going to do in the future. Anna, to u. No I 'm not going back to him. That was different. I was different then. I am not the same old Raji anymore. I feel that I am more mature enough to take my own decisions. To vinoth, this was just a post which I felt that I needed to write.  I always felt that a feeling in a person can be gotten rid of as soon as possible if it was written down somewhere. I always write down my feelings in a piece of paper whenever I am over excited or over depressed. This helps me get on with other things in life.

I hope you guys will understand that writing this blog these gives me immense pleasure and confident in myself. I think this will definitely bring out something in me. I hope that you guys will always criticise me this way.

I didn't have this title for nothing. "Take life just the way it comes..." Because people always say that when you don't have a vision, You will not achieve anything. But to my experience, I would say that we never know what is going to happen in this new year, new month or even a new day . That doesn't mean I do not have a vision. I mean, what life is it to live without knowing what you want to be in your future.

My Opinion about friendship:

My Dad-- My Hero

Hey I hope some of you would have watched the movie ABHIYUM NAANUM. Its a Tamil Movie which shows the love and the relationship between a father and a daughter. Hey gals!!! Those of you who love your dad so much, please do watch the movie. We might have known him from our point of view, but to know him from his point of view- go see it. It was hilarious!!! I guarantee that you would surely love it. And please take the time out to watch it with your father.
After seeing the movie, I felt that it was time I appreciated my dad who has given me the opportunity of doing so.
